Second Light

Second Light is a small turn-based chase through the dark. You are a light on a grid, and a second light retraces your steps a few moves behind you. Read the room, light both lamps, and get out before the dark reaches the light you cannot see.

Every step is a commitment. Move fast and the trailing light falls behind; double back and it meets you. From room four the dark starts aiming ahead of you; from room five it steps every move; in room six a twin hunts from the far corner. From room eight you have one life. Power-ups drop as shards you can dash for, but the same shard can pull the dark onto you.

The whole run is seeded by the date: the same rooms and the same drops for everyone, and your best room and time for today sit in the corner the whole run. It is built to be lost and immediately re-run.
