About this game
Ten seconds. Then the floor becomes the ceiling.
Countdown Cavern runs on a clock you cannot pause. Every ten seconds gravity inverts — you fall upward, the ceiling becomes ground, and ten seconds later it all turns over again. The countdown doesn't stop for menus, for mistakes, or for you.
One thing never changes
Left is always left. Right is always right. Jump always pushes away from whatever floor you're standing on.
The world turns over; your controls never do. Everything else down here is negotiable.
The flip is a tool, not a hazard
A wall four tiles high is unjumpable — deliberately. That's not a dead end, it's an instruction: wait, flip, and walk over it upside down.
Every good room asks the same question the moment you enter it. Do I have time to cross before it flips, or do I stand still and let it carry me? Patience is a mechanic here. So is nerve.
Then the cave starts handing you the clock itself. Detonator plates slam the countdown to zero so you can flip now. Hourglass fields run time faster while you stand somewhere you'd rather not be. Blue shards steal seconds from the cycle; gold shards buy them back. By the end you're not surviving the countdown — you're editing it.
Nine sectors down
Each one built around a single idea, and each one teaching it somewhere safe before it ever tests you.
01 FIRST BREATH the flip itself 02 PHASE gravity-locked matter 03 CARGO cargo that falls with you 04 LOCKDOWN plates, doors and timed gates 05 PENDULUM swinging and slamming hazards 06 THE CLOCK editing the countdown itself 07 MACHINE lifts, magnets and boosters 08 HOSTILE things that hunt you 09 DEMOLITION bombs, boulders and blast doors
THE CAVERN'S HEART is sealed. For now.
About forty minutes for a first descent. Checkpoints are frequent and dying costs seconds rather than minutes — this is a game that wants you straight back in.
The leaderboard
Sectors cleared first, speed breaks the tie. Getting further always beats being fast — but among everyone who got as deep as you did, the clock decides. Replaying a sector only counts if you beat your own time, so there's nothing to farm.

Wall slide and wall jump are in. So are coyote time and jump buffering: if a jump felt like it should have worked, it probably did.
