Q1

How much do you usually play strategy or tycoon games?

Not very often. I haven’t played one in a few months. They’re not usually my favourite genre, but I also don’t avoid them when I get the opportunity to try one.

Q2

What did the tutorial teach you clearly, and what did you have to work out on your own?

The tutorial clearly taught me what to build, how to collect rent, how to use my action points, how bids against other players work, how to upgrade my properties, how to block opponents’ actions, and the main systems in general.

Q3

Where did you first get confused or stuck? What were you trying to do at that moment?

I got a little confused during the bidding section. The base price looked slightly faded, so at first I didn’t realise that I was paying the amount I entered on top of the base price. Because of that, I was running out of money very quickly and losing bids against the opponent.

Q4

When you built or upgraded something, did you understand how much rent it would bring and why?

Yes. This was explained very quickly and intuitively, since it was one of the first things the tutorial showed me. In fact, upgrading properties and checking how much the rent increased was one of the things I focused on the most during the tutorial.

Q5

Was there anything on screen you didn't understand, such as an icon, a number or a panel?

No, I found the icons and information on screen quite clear overall. The only issue I had was the one mentioned before with the base price during bids. Since it looks a little faded, I think it should be more visible so it’s immediately clear that it is added to the amount you choose to bid.

Q6

After the tutorial, would you want to keep playing? Why or why not?

Yes, I would, although I think a few improvements could make the experience more enjoyable. In particular, I think the game would benefit from more constant ambient music while you are planning each move, because the silence can sometimes make the experience feel a little monotonous.

I understand this is a demo and this may already be planned, but I think the music could also change depending on what is happening during the turn. For example, it could be calmer while you are planning your actions and become more tense when you are blocking an opponent or making an important decision. I think that would make each turn feel more dynamic.
